Layne Gneiting

Expedition Leader, Former University Professor & Explorer

Profile

Layne Gneiting is an expedition leader, former university professor, and explorer of what happens when the plan stops working. For twenty years, he studied performance and culture in the classroom before taking the questions outside.

He has cycled across countries and continents—including nearly 7,000 kilometres across the United States with his wife and seven children—turning the open road into a laboratory for what happens when plans collide with uncertainty.

Those journeys led him to question our assumptions about achievement, control, and the goals we build our lives around. His current obsession is a deceptively simple question: What if the goals we set to move us forward are actually holding us back?

Layne lives in Arizona with his wife, Gaylene, where you can usually find him training for the next odyssey.
